How we get the numbers
Short version for shoppers. Details for people who want the rules.
Sugar readings use linked sources. Not a lab. Not medical advice. Always check the bottle in the shop.
In one minute
- Each drink gets a sugar reading: green LOW, amber MED, or red HIGH.
- Numbers are per 100 ml of sugar.
- We only show drinks where we found a linked source (retail page, Open Food Facts, brand listing, and similar). We do not invent numbers.
- The bottle in the shop is still the final word. Formulas change.
Sugar bands
We use these bands for total sugars per 100 ml:
- LOW - up to 2.5 g
- MED - up to 11.25 g
- HIGH - more than 11.25 g
Colour and the words LOW / MED / HIGH are shown together so colour alone is not required.
Where numbers come from
- BigBasket product nutrition tables when we can match the drink.
- Open Food Facts community data (barcode / brand match).
- FatSecret and other public listings when match is clear.
- Manual rows only with a cited source note.
If we cannot find sugar per 100 ml, the drink is not shown with a made-up light.
Claims (plain words)
- No added sugar is not the same as no sugar. Fruit sugar can still be high.
- 100% juice is about composition wording, not a sugar score.
- We never invent a "false claim" verdict without pack-linked sugar. We do not give legal advice.
Product list
The drink list is a static catalog (CSV) of Indian fruit beverages: name, brand, type, pack size, optional prices, and marketing claim text. Prices are a snapshot in that file, not live prices.
